Windozing by Timothy Tocher
I took a summer evening nap,
a book akimbo in my lap,
and watched the wildlife through the glass
browsing as they crossed the grass.
The turkeys tried to glean some seed
but, wearing masks, they could not feed.
Deer slipped and slid in hooves be-gloved
stretching to reach the fruit they loved.
Woodpecker drummed a mating call
Females ignored him one and all.
The rule of keeping social distancte
poses a threat to his existence.
My book escaped and broke the spell.
A look through glass showed all was well.
Until I saw in its reflection
a man who fears this vile infection.
